Visit to Local Businesses to Promote the Resident Card
The Municipality of Fornos de Algodres is introducing the Resident Card to local businesses to boost the economy and strengthen ties to the community.
The Vice Mayor of Fornos de Algodres, Bruno Costa, Esq., accompanied by the Neighborhood Manager, Lúcia Olival, and the communications director, Luís Novo, paid a visit to local business owners to present and explain the“Resident Card” project—a strategic initiative aimed at modernizing services and strengthening the local economy.
TheResident Cardis asimple, practical, and innovative solution designed to facilitate the relationship between the municipality and its residents, whether they are citizens or businesses. The project aims to consolidate, on a single card, the various services and interactions between residents and the municipality, fostering closer ties with the local government and enabling more efficient management of public resources, for the benefit of the entire community.
As part of theLoja do Bairro project, the Resident Card will also serve as atool to stimulate the local economy by offering benefits and discounts to its users. When residents make purchases at participating businesses—which will become part of the Loja do Bairro network—they willearn points, which will be automatically converted intodiscounts that can be used at those same businesses or toward services and events organized by the municipality.
At the same time, municipal support for the local economy and social assistance for residents will be credited directly to the Resident Card, ensuring that these funds are spent at local businesses, promoting local economic circulation, and strengthening social cohesion. It is estimated that this project will inject more than 150,000 euros annually into the local economy, with a direct impact on merchants, residents, and the municipality’s development.
TheResident Card projectis part of the Fornos de Algodres Municipal Strategy for Sustainable Development, contributing directly to the goals of administrative modernization, promotion of the local economy, social inclusion, and digital transition—all of which are fundamental pillars of a more cohesive, competitive, and resilient community.
By simplifying and integrating, within a single framework, the relationship between the municipality, its citizens, and the local business community, this initiative strengthens institutional ties, promotes more efficient management of public resources, and encourages responsible and locally-oriented consumption patterns, in line with the strategic pillar of Local Economic Development and Innovation set forth in the municipal strategy.
Thisinvestment is fundedby the Comprove.PT project, as part of the Digital Commercial Districts Program, following an application submitted in partnership with NERGA—the Guarda Region Business Association—and aims to drive the development, modernization, and digital training of local businesses, adapting them to the challenges of the contemporary economy.
With this initiative, the local economy benefits, the residents benefit, and Fornos de Algodres benefits.
