Urban Art Boosts Local Business in Fornos de Algodres
An artistic intervention that celebrates local identity and invites reflection on the relationship between tradition and modernity.
Between May 19 and 23, 2025, anartistic muralwas created on one of the facades in the central area of Fornos de Algodres, as part of the national “Digital Commercial Neighborhoods” project, funded by the PRR. The initiative was promoted by the City Council and carried out by the renowned urban artist Sérgio, known in the art world as “Odeith.” With an unmistakable style characterized by photorealism and three-dimensional compositions, Odeith brought to the town of Fornos de Algodres a work that connects the past to the future, tradition to innovation.
The main objective of this artistic project wasto reinforce the municipality’s commitment to supporting local businesses, whilesimultaneously promoting the modernization and digitization of the municipality of Fornos de Algodres.The mural aims to highlight the importance of preserving the region’s traditions, while keeping pace with technological advancements and taking advantage of new digital tools.
The composition of the artwork precisely reflects this balance: on one side, a child sitting with a laptop, symbolizing the new generation and the digital future; on the other, flowers, a bee, and an olive branch, highlighting biodiversity and local products—central elements of Fornos de Algodres’ identity.
More than just a cosmetic project, this mural serves as a visual and emotional symbol of the transformation taking place in our municipality.
The City Council believes that this work of art will not only beautify the town center but also attract visitors, revitalize the commercial district, and strengthen the local community’s sense of belonging. Odeith’s work thus becomes a symbol of the new chapter that Fornos de Algodres is embracing: a town that looks to the future without forgetting its roots.
